Often people join an association because they want to grow professionally, network and meet other smart people like themselves from whom they can learn. In fact, it's for that reason associations often exist. Often, the number one reason I hear why people serve on a board is for a passion they have for the cause.
But where do volunteer leaders on the boards of nonprofits and associations go to meet each other, share stories, network, and become a better board director? Oddly enough - until now, there hasn't been an association specifically for people who volunteer on the boards of nonprofit associations.
In our desire to give back to those who volunteer their time and leadership skills to the boards of nonprofits, Our Executive Director is pleased to announce an expected launch of a new association: the Society of NonProfit Board Directors. This new association, set to launch on February 1, 2018, will really be something that allows people passionate about board service to share stories, network, and in some cases, even recruit really competent people to their board. Its a place where they can learn about governance, get tips on dealing with under-performing board colleagues, and even more practical concepts like growing or staffing the association.

Well we've launched! It's been a while coming and after many focus groups, interviews and discussions with those who serve on the Boards of directors of associations, our site is up and we're underway towards producing what we hope will be content of value.
